A new Decorex Africa

What we’ve launched this year is not the Decorex of old. This is Decorex Africa® Reimagined. The pandemic has challenged us all in many different ways – but for Decorex Africa, it has also offered the opportunity to reflect deeply on the impact that we want to have. This period of reflection, experimentation and change has uncovered a fresh perspective on Decorex’s role and the value that we provide to the industry and our clients. This perspective has inspired our reinvention and reimagination.

At the core of this reinvention and evolution – or revolution – is a deep and fervent belief in the power of the design industry and its growth potential. Over the last 29 years, Decorex Africa has made a material contribution to the elevation and growth of design and decor in South Africa. As the world changes, we’re also being asked to adapt, and we intend to.

Some changes we’re working on include:

  • A return of focus, and a commitment to curation as a tool for industry elevation. Platforming the best catalyses attention, which fuels growth.
  • An investment in re-earning our position as a design authority, by gaining trust and inspiring influence from the industry and its patrons. Doing this will better place us to lead and shape change in the industry by celebrating icons, and introducing and platforming the next generation of talent.
  • Assuming a bigger role in platforming and growing South African, and African, design and designers. There is incredible talent across the continent and as we look to the future, we plan to connect this with pan-African and global interest.
  • Developing a series of strategic partnerships to be announced over the coming months. Decorex Africa is currently in talks with Maison&Objet and the Cape Town Art Fair. This year will also see House and Leisure partnering with us for the first time.
  •  Hosting and collaborating in a calendar of side events, to better celebrate our exhibitors, and excite and attract visitors. This will include the launch of Summits in both Cape Town and Johannesburg, where we’ll be hosting international and local speakers to inspire the future.
  •  Launching tools to help partners measure their return on investment. This will initially be led by a lead-generation tool, which will be available to all exhibitors showing in 2022. Over the course of the next year, it will involve investing in reliable and high-utility metrics across all channels.

To clarify, Reimagine is not just an expression of our evolution, it’s also an invitation to the industry, to join us. Now more than ever, the world and Africa needs new creative solutions. There’s no better time for this than the present, and there’s no better platform than Decorex Africa. Together, it’s time we started creating the future of this industry that we’re all so passionate about. It’s time to Reimagine.
