INTRODUCING THE FUTURE DESIGNERS FUND sponsored by Infinity Surfaces

MANIFESTO

In identifying the lack of diversity in the design industry in Africa, Infinity commits to actively engineering and contributing to the change. The barriers of entry into tertiary courses for Interior Design and Architecture are great and stretch far further than the simple annual fees. Every year, the Future Designers Fund will research and strategize, to implement a funded initiative that will best impact potential design students of that year.

This could look different each year, but we can guarantee it will be the most appropriate action to ensure meaningful and tangible results to Africa’s future designers. We aim to identify young, talented, potential designers, who have a passion for design thinking and creativity. We commit to not simply throwing money at the problem but offering a holistic and tailer-made solution to each selected student.

Apart from tertiary fees, this could include mentorship, devices, life-coaching and emotional support, lunch money, curriculum enhancement and business acumen to name but a few. Our aim is to ensure that the selected students are nurtured and supported, yet also made accountable and motivated to succeed. Our core long term objective is to witness a shift in the design industry in Africa, and we have taken this on as not just a campaign, but our responsibility as a brand.

LONG-TERM PLAN

Find aspiring and talented students at high school level. Guide them into applications to tertiary education. On successful entry to said course, offer them professional, emotional and financial support to ensure their success and integration into the industry.

 POLOKO LETEKA & TIHELI TIHELI

2022 INITIATIVE

THE RECIPIENTS OF THE FUTURE DESIGNERS FUND ARE POLOKO LETEKA & TIHELI TIHELI

Endorsed by SALT Architectural firm, both Tiheli and Poloko have been recognised as talented and passionate architectural students who graduated from UCT. This year they reached their dream of studying at the prestigious Politecnico di Milano in Italy. They have been accepted to the school, but require additional funding. These two gentlemen have showcased their dedication and their needs are immediate. We therefore commit the 2022 allocation of the Future Designers Fund to be split and rewarded to them to help them achieve their goal and raise their game.
