Inspired by the brand ethos of ‘Making Luxury Personal’, Lexus has invited four esteemed South African designers - Mink Interiors, Anna Correia, Plan-it Design & Motso Designed - to create four exceptional feature spaces, informed by the latest Lexus car models. More than just capturing the personality of the cars, Lexus invited the designers of the Lexus Designer Pods to test drive Lexus vehicles to draw inspiration and to base their distinctive concept space on one of the five ‘Making Luxury Personal’ pillars: Authentic, Refined, Engaging, Imaginative, and Omotenashi (a Japanese expression describing concepts of hospitality as well as mindfulness).

As South Africans, we all know to turn to Private Property for our real estate needs, and now, through this exciting showcase, we’ll know who to turn to when kitting out our homes too! So, whether you’re starting a new build, designing a space for your client, or renovating your new home, this debut exhibition is just for you. Displaying the highest quality construction elements and the latest in home automation, entertainment, and technology, this conceptual house installation is happening in collaboration with a selection of incredible brands.

The leading flooring manufacturer has partnered with Decorex Africa and invited Megan Hesse and Andrea Kleinloog of HK Studio - the renowned international interior design studio behind the Kruger Shalati Bridge House, Ardmore stores, the Durban Girls’ College Library and multiple Singita hospitality projects - and furniture brand Anatomy Design to design unique spaces that highlight hybrid and forward-looking approaches to hospitality design. 

Using the lens of circular design, the intention of this exhibition is to empower us all to co-create a better future. True innovation is about improved systems, materials and technologies that benefit both people and planet. Our preoccupation with beauty and newness is standing in the way of design becoming more sustainable, relevant, and useful.

This year, in an exciting addition to Du Plessis’s many accolades, the founder of the eponymous Cape Town and Johannesburg-based interior architecture firm has been selected as Decorex’s Designer of the Year for 2024. An annual recognition from the foremost authority on decor, interior design and lifestyle industries on the African continent, the Designer of the Year honour is awarded to an interior design firm whose work is worthy of acclaim.

Dive into the vibrant pulse of Decorex Joburg's Bubbly Bar, where contemporary flair meets playful vibes. Picture an all-white setting bathed in electric pink lights, setting the stage for an unforgettable experience. Take a seat in our funky pavilion-style seating and sip on some bubbly while enjoying sushi and canapés that tantalize your taste buds. As the evening unfolds, join us for the Cocktail Hour, a time for designers, exhibitors, and trendsetters to mix, mingle, and celebrate in style. Sink into the plush, all-white seating by Zorora Sofas amidst lush green botanicals from Living Green Walls. Reflecting the latest trend in decor, the bar's wall-to-wall mirrors add an extra dash of contemporary flair, making it the ultimate hotspot for modern revelry and connection.

Using the best local ingredients available, visitors to the Sandton Convention Centre will be in for a treat when taking a break from the incredible exhibitions on display in the FOUR halls of Decorex, this August. To know where we’re going, we have to know where we’ve come from, and this year’s Decorex theme, Designing for Impact, will mean That Food Guy® Café will feature an aesthetic that gives shine to the past, while also showcasing a fresh, modern take on some of our country’s heritage food items,’ says Dale Herbst of That Food Guy Group.

Guests will have the opportunity to try jaffles stuffed with curried mince and butter chicken, fresh salads, mouth-watering mini milk tarts and jelly and custard, as well as the most delicious freshly brewed coffees – served with rusks of course!

Wolkberg Casting Studio will be catering to the appetites of showgoers with its 100% Design Africa Café located in the centre of the 100% Design Africa hall on Level 2 of the convention centre. Wolkberg, a proudly African industrial design studio, was co-founded by creative entrepreneur Ramielle de Jager – a regular Future Talks contributor – who has established a name for herself as a leading product innovator in the industry.
